Orange: Unlimited
The idea behind Unlimited was to create a never-ending web page with a huge variety of entertainment pieces. As tech director I took this basic idea and organised the tech team in creating a reliable mechanism whereby a large number of visitors could scroll seemingly endlessly down the page, viewing more and more animated pieces, interacting with some and leaving contributions on others.
I led the tech team in building a Flash front-end & Ruby/Rails back-end architecture whereby animators could contribute custom components, visitors could scroll continuously to view them without exhausting the system platform resources, and hosting and bandwidth charges were kept to the minimum. I also designed, built and managed the hosting environment.
The site was a major success, winning Webby, Clio, Cyberlions, Creative Review and BIMA awards. It was also chosen for display in the NYC MoMA's "Talk To Me" exhibition
